Hello MSI Members,

The following email was sent out thursday afternoon regarding the Installation Dinner that was originally scheduled for this saturday, the 16th:

With the newly re-issued stay at home order from the governor, our installation dinner has been cancelled.  If and when things improve on the Covide-19  front we can re-schedule.

For now the dinner is cancelled.

Double-Action Revolver Match Scores October 17, 2020

The October MSI Revolver Match saw twelve shooters for the main match, including several first-time participants and our first lady shooter, Beth Sanders.  This month’s match included one stage with smaller, more challenging targets and the increased level of difficulty was reflected in the scores.  Missed target penalties add up quickly.  Only one shooter made it through the course with no misses, new-comer Beth Sanders.  Had it not been for a series of ammo glitches, she would have scored very well.
We had eight shooters for the half-match (3 Stages) following the main match, including another first time, lady shooter, Gwen Maciel.  Our next match will be on November 21st.  Hope to see you all there.

September Revolver Match Scores

MSI held it’s second Double Action Revolver Match on September 19th with 13 shooters completing the the initial six stage course.  One shooter had do drop out due to equipment problems.  Seven shooters participated in a second relay that consisted of three stages, several of them opting to use a different firearm from the first relay.
Many shooters who’s first experience with action shooting was the August match, showed significant improvement.
The next Double Action Revolver Match will be October 17th.
We continue to limit the matches to 20 participants, but are working to increase capacity.  Those interested should contact Mike Maciel at e-mail:  sintreetulait@yahoo.com or phone:  879-3148.

First Ever Double Action Revolver Match – Aug 15, 2020

Here are the results of today’s first ever Double-Action Revolver Match at Manteca Sportmen Inc.  I want to thank all of the participants who endured grueling heat but never uttered a complaint.  We had some experienced “action shooters” but more importantly there were a number of participants who were trying something new.  A great deal was learned about guns, ammo and technique that will result in some much improved scores at (hopefully) the next match.
Special thanks to board members Joe Kroeze and Tony Abbott who participated but could not stay to finish the match (other MSI duties).   Thanks to all of you who shot today.  Hope to see you (and bring a friend) next month, under more comfortable conditions. A special shout out to Jack Watts and Bill Mather who helped both conceptually and physically to put this together.
-Mike Maciel

A note from the club President to our members

A note from the club President…

Since the Club re-opened, the ranges have been very busy.  We are in need of help on both rifle and pistol ranges.  If you are available to assist as a range safety officer, it would be greatly appreciated and you will be helping to protect your club.

Please let me know if you can help out, any day and any time.  All members who help out will receive double work hour credit.

Thanks,
Len

3-Venue Fundraiser, Sunday 11/10/19

Our 3rd Annual Veterans Day  Funshoot is coming up this Sunday!  All proceeds from this fundraiser go to Wreaths Across America.  This organization places wreaths on the graves of the veterans at National Cemeteries, our wreaths go to San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.

The day starts with the High Power Rifle Match, $15 per relay – each relay is about 50 rounds and consists of 4 stages.

About the same time we have the Pistol Funshoot, $5 per relay – each relay is at least 48 rounds and consists of 8 fun stations where you get to shoot various types of targets (there is an extra 9th station that takes extra rounds).

Then starting at noon is the Trap Funshoot, $15 per shooter, try your skills at various shooting games: sliders, wobbles, follow the leader, chips, etc…

This year the members from the Oakdale VFW Aux will be BBQing up some hotdogs and polish dogs for lunch (additional donation), starting at 11am.

2nd NRA Range Safety Officer Class Scheduled

Our sport, the shooting sport, is one of the safest hobbies because of basic common sense rules supervised by Range Safety Officers. To help more of our members join that elite group Manteca Sportsmen Inc. is sponsoring another official NRA RSO certification class.

NRA Instructor, Club member and Chief Range Safety Officer Richard “Dick” Reizner will lead the class sharing his 60 plus years of shooting experience. Dick said, “While the information the class provides is important, the RSO’s attitude in passing it on is what really makes the range safe for shooters.”

The two sessions will be held at the Manteca Sportsmen Inc. range, 30261 Airport Way Manteca on March 10 and 17 from noon to 5:00 PM (must attend both sessions to complete the course).

The cost for club members is $35, for non-members it is $150. The class is normally priced at about $180.
